A One-Day Hands On Training Experience on Gen AI Applications

An immersive, hands-on technical bootcamp designed for engineers who want to dive into the AI era. Participants will learn LLM fundamentals, set up local models (Ollama, LM Studio), and build their first generative AI web application using TypeScript, Vercel AI SDK, Next.js, and Shadcn UI components. The session covers Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and tool integration, empowering attendees to code and deploy their own GenAI apps in one day—all running on their local machines.

By day’s end, every participant will have a working AI application running on their local machine—ready to extend and deploy to production.

The morning sessions of the Bootcamp provide participants with a hands-on foundation in Large Language Models (LLMs) and their practical applications.

We begin with a Unified Kickoff, introducing the agenda, learning objectives, and the transformative impact of generative AI on product and engineering workflows. From there, the LLM Fundamentals Deep Dive builds a strong conceptual understanding of how LLMs work, including tokens, context windows, temperature, and prompting strategies.

Finally, in Local LLM Setup & Configuration, participants get practical experience installing and running a local LLM using tools like Ollama or LM Studio, exploring performance considerations, privacy benefits, and model trade-offs. By the end of the morning, each participant will have a fully functional local LLM ready for experimentation and hands-on exercises.

Thanks to the general availability and widespread use of large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini & Co., we have become aware of the disruptive importance of AI for our discipline. It is obvious that when testing AI systems, we must deal with new technologies, test techniques and therefore new requirements and skillsets for testers. Above all, AI-based systems will have a massive impact on the work of testers; large language models and other AI systems can already partially take over the work of testers.

What does this mean for the role of testing in the next few years? What changes will we have to adapt to and what will the role of testing look like in ten years? Will software testing, as we know it today, still play a role in the future? And if so, do we still need humans for this? In my talk, I would like to shed light on the current status of testing with AI, show possible future scenarios and try to find plausible answers to these questions.

In this workshop, we will explore efficient methods and approaches for performing queries in a billion-dimensional vector space. In recent years, we have accumulated vast amounts of data and transformed them into meaningful embedding vectors using machine learning models.

As a result, there are now numerous use-cases where we need to find the closest match from a large set of high-dimensional vectors. However, exhaustive search is not feasible due to its high computational cost and time limitations.

To address this challenge, we will focus on techniques and practices implemented in the FAISS library. We will identify the basic indexes and provide solutions to make the billion-scale problem achievable.
